![]() One can argue that by supplementing my gold and science, it made it easier for me to divert more resources into creating military, paying for their upkeep and getting more advanced units into play so that's one kind of a synergistic effect, I suppose. My leader was specialized for combat while this society gave me gold and science. Post-game thoughts: Despite having had a strong run at Emperor difficulty, I think that my civilization was not really suited to this Secret Society as I couldn't really spot many synergies. This would have been amazing had I been at war but, a few turns later, I was landing on Mars with my ~80k faith. Given that I had the ability to purchase land units with Faith, I could pretty much create a Modern Armor Army per turn with all that faith. Not only was I generating 600+ great person points for merchants, scientists and engineers, once I had been through the pool of great people, the game converted all those points into Faith and now I was generating 3000+ faith per turn. The third upgrade was a bit "meh" because it basically just gave me 0-1 really good workable tiles per city, but overall it wasn't a really impactful change in my empire.īut the final upgrade was INSANE. The Alchemical Society was a good boost to my gold and I love having a large reservoir of gold letting me insta-purchase units and tiles. Setting up cities on top of them was also useful because anything placed next to the city would get a +2 bonus. I definitely got lucky with the ley lines and found a good number of them near my territory. They seemed a bit underwhelming as I was trying to figure out how to use ley lines and the annoying fact that I couldn't build anything on them - but as the turns progressed, things started getting better. I accepted the first secret society that I came across which was the Hermetic Order. I tried out a game with random leader and got Genghis Khan with Mongolia. If you want to skip it and jump to the question, go to the bold part below.). (Below is a description of my first experience with the Hermetic Order.
